Frequently Asked Questions
No. The Master Services Council has scheduled a strike authorization vote for July 19, 2024. A strike authorization is not unusual as part of the negotiations process and does not indicate a strike is imminent or underway. If approved, it would affect a portion of cast members at Disneyland Park. In all, there are over 35,000 cast members who work in Anaheim. Disneyland Resort remains open and ready to welcome guests.
We have a long-standing history of successful negotiations with the Master Services Council with our next meeting scheduled for July 22. We remain focused on reaching an agreement on a new contract that is fair and equitable for our cast members.
We conduct contingency training as part of our overall preparedness efforts, and this is normal practice to support operational readiness.
No. The Disney Look appearance guidelines are rooted in the company’s history and presents a standard to be upheld to help ensure that our guests enjoy an uninterrupted, immersive experience. Anything that distracts from the show or story, be it a non-approved button, pin or sticker worn by a cast member, would be addressed by a leader. Our Disney Look and the costumes worn by our cast members are a critical part of enhancing the experience of our Disney show. As you enter Disneyland Park, the plaque reads “Here you Leave Today and Enter the World of Yesterday, Tomorrow and Fantasy,” and everything we do to create and protect that environment is intentional.
The Disneyland Park Master Services Council contract, which covered nearly 9,000 cast members, expired on June 16, 2024, and there is no contract extension in place. After the contract expired, the union’s obligation to maintain labor peace ended, which created the potential for the union to call a strike with proper authorization from its membership.
The Disney California Adventure Park Master Services Agreement includes nearly 5,000 cast members and is set to expire on September 30, 2024.
Yes. As with all our union negotiations, Disneyland Park has plans in place that will allow us to continue providing the level of service that our Guests expect from us. Disney California Adventure Park and the Hotels of the Disneyland Resort would not be affected by a strike.
